Our CEO, Zhang Han, CTO, Yamauchi Yasushi, and Terabase Inc. CEO, Arai Yoshihiro, have been awarded the “Future Creation Invention Encouragement Award” at the 2026 National Invention Awards for their “Invention of High-Performance Microscope Mounting Technology for Field Emission Nano-Electron Sources.”
National Invention Awards
The Invention Awards began in 1919 with the aim of contributing to the advancement of science and technology and the development of industry in Japan. Since then, by honoring the achievements of numerous leading researchers and scientists in Japan, the awards have left a significant mark on the development of science and technology today.
The Invention Award recognizes inventions, designs, or utility models (hereinafter referred to as “inventions, etc.”) that have made significant contributions, or inventions, etc. that are expected to make significant contributions in the future due to their excellence.

Of these, the Future Creation Invention Award is given to inventions that possess outstanding scientific and technological advancement and are particularly excellent, originating from small and medium-sized enterprises, venture companies, universities, and public research institutions.
In conjunction with this award, the “Future Creation Invention Contribution Award” was presented to the nominator, Kazuhiro Hono, President of the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS).
The awards ceremony was held on June 15, 2026, at The Okura Tokyo Prestige Tower.
