We have developed an epoch-making electron source technology using nanowire materials after 18 years of research.
In 2004, our first research on the creation of LaB6 nanowires started at the University of North Carolina.
We developed technologies to applicate nanowires into electron sources and electron guns at National Institute of Materials Science (NIMS) in Japan.
Then, Scientia Concors Inc. inherited the technologies as a venture from NIMS.
A Simple Principle with Nano Materials
Our new LaB₆ nanowire electron source does not need to heat up, and it emits electrons even at room temperature.
This phenomenon is caused by the formation of a very high electric field at the tip of the nanowire with an exceptionally small size (1/100 billion of a conventional LaB₆ thermal electron source).
The high electric field causes quantum tunneling of electrons from inside the tip of the nanowire to the outside vacuum, and electrons are ejected from the tip, forming an extremely bright electron beam that is 10,000 times brighter than conventional LaB₆ thermal electron sources.
